Chapter 18

Madison

Vincent whispers in my ear, “Get up, Little Mouse.”

“Too early,” I grumble. I pull the covers tighter around me, nuzzling Nic’s side and rubbing my feet along Vincent’s calf behind me.

He chuckles, the vibrations sending a ripple of warmth up my back. “I thought you wanted to surprise Luca and Nic with breakfast in bed.”

My eyes pop open. I have a bonding breakfast to make.

“But it’s warm and cozy.” I turn away from Nic and into Vincent’s chest.

He pulls me into his arms. The kiss is lazy and slow, setting off little bursts of arousal in my core. If he keeps kissing me like this, I won’t be able to leave this bed until I’ve had a knot.

I crawl clumsily over him before I can get too distracted. I stumble out of bed and turn to him, curling my hand in a hurry-up gesture.

Vincent lounges on his elbows, his lips tucked into a smirk as he watches me. He looks every part the flippant fuckboy. The sheet cascades across his hip, showing that delicious V that teases what lies beneath, and his too-long hair falls sharply across his face. But his silver eyes give him away as he looks at me with tender amusement.

“Come on!”

I don’t bother to wait as I race toward the kitchen. It’s already light out, and Nic gets up early even when he isn’t working. Avery is our pack chef, but I can hold my own. In the kitchen, I sort through my options in the pantry and fridge. Avery had this place stocked with the essentials for our arrival.

First things first—coffee.

The lodge has the same espresso machine as the condo, and I make myself a drink while I decide what to cook.

Vincent joins me, pulling me against his chest and kissing my neck. “Good morning.”

“Thanks for getting me up.” I hum in appreciation as his lips dance along my neck. “Can you grab the wrapped presents from my luggage in the closet?”

“Which bag? You brought, like, twenty.”

“I brought five, smartass. Check the one with the gold bow.”

He gives me a final kiss before heading off.

I sip my drink and start on crepes. I’m thinking savory with steak and mushrooms. By the time Vincent returns, I’ve got the crepe batter resting in the fridge and the steak, mushrooms, and spinach cooking on the stove.

“Mmm. That smells delicious. What can I do?”

I direct him to work on the bleu cheese butter mix as I finish the filling. We work efficiently until I’ve got a batch split between four plates. Vincent helps me put the finishing touches on the trays and carry them to the bedroom. I vetoed his idea to start breakfast in bed with a bullhorn. Tempting, but for another time.

I gently wake Luca and Nic, pulling back the blackout curtains to reveal some of the snowy white landscape. “Rise and shine, boys.”

Luca grumbles and puts his hand up to shield his eyes. He’s not a morning person either.

Vincent grabs his plate, not bothering to wait for the others, and I roll my eyes at him.
